¶ Program settings
By clicking on file in the program's menu bar, a Dropdown menu can be opened. The program settings can be changed in the Program settings section.
- Language settings can be modified here. Click on Language and choose in a Dropdown-menu German or English.
- A standard directory which provides a loading and storing function can be set under the Default directory option.
- With Look and Feel you can choose between native, if the program is tailored to the computer’s system or cross platform if the design is permitted regardless of how the operating system appears.
- The intervals in which the project is stored in a separate backup file can be adjusted under Backup interval. The entry is for minutes.
- The list where the backup data sets should be stored can be selected in backup directory.
- Under Temp. Directory the directory can be selected in which temporary files may be written during certain calculation processes or when loading ASCII voxel files. If you load very large ASCII voxel files, there should be enough space in the temporary directory for everything to run smoothly.
- Choose the path to the installation of python in python.exe. If you have allowed the python-package druing the installation, you will finr "python.exe" in the program-folder of the SubsurfaveViewer.
- If the project surface was restricted by the Limit project area, the value entered for the Maximum number of cells per grid determined the maximum number of z-values that would be checked. Should the number of z-values be higher, there are correction values that are used throughout the entire program.
- The direction of the zoom can be changed by using a hack at Invert move and zoom direction. Under [using mouse or Touchpad], you can discover more information about using a mouse and a touchpad (#hinweis-bedienung-mit-maus-oder-touchpad-für-windows).
- Customize the programs font size and style.
- Here you can set the line width generally used in the system for drawing. Increasing the line width to >1 is recommended when working with UHD screens.
- Here, you can choose between low, medium, and high quality for the 2D- and 3D-View quality of the image. More system performance will be needed to display the higher the quality setting.
- In the 3D view, a background color can be selected. This is used as the new default setting whenever a program is restarted. The background color and background image can be chosen from the 3D window menu seperately. In toolbar, you can discover more information.
- The number of 3D screens can be adjusted. If an external screen is connected, this function can display the background model from various angles. The areas described under user interface can be turned on and off using a switch. If the checkbox for "3D window on" is removed, the 3D view is disabled, so only the 2D-view and the section-view are visible.
- The colour for chosen and highlighted objects can be specified under colour for selections. The color that marks the active tool can be chosen using the color of selected buttons option.
- Tools that can be executed using a key combination are chosen under Short Cuts settings. By moving your cursor over the tool, you can display pre-set combinations. Click on the appropriate tool to select a different Short Cut - command. Choose from the windows or Ctrl-button as well as the alphabet, numbers, and symbols. If you select a letter and it does not appear in the appropriate field, click the field again and select the letter and the function you want to use with the selected button.
Example: Click into the left short cut place, then press Ctrl and S togethter. Then click on
to set the short cut STRG + S for storing files.
Please click "OK" to confirm your settings. You will be informed by the SubsurfaceViewer Reader that the settings will be applied at the next project launch. It is necessary to restart the application in order to work with the new settings.
¶ Note: Using the mouse or touchpad to operate (for windows)
In order to work productively, it is necessary to know how to zoom in/zoom out the cards and models in the user interface, rotate the 3D view, and move the maps.
The cross in the left upper view indicates where you are on the map. The X and Y coordinates are displayed along the bottom edge of the view when a point on the map is selected.
Use the cursor for navigation in the other two views. The cross in the 3D window can be activated and deactivated with general.
By using a laptop's touchpad, you can enlarge or reduce the card by moving your fingers apart or together with the touchpad. Every view gets a separate zoom operation. Changes to the zoom direction can be made in the program settings. The view in 2D maps can be moved with the mouse button pressed.
When using an external mouse, the wheel is used for zooming. The zoom is performed separately for each view. The direction of the zoom can be changed in the program settings. By holding down the mouse button, the viewport can be moved in 2D maps.
In the 3D view, the model can be rotated in all directions by press the mouse button. Use the arrow keys, or W, A, S, and D on your keyboard, to move the model within the annotation, or keep the shift key and the mouse button pressed. You can zoom in or out of the model with the mouse button pressed while holding down the STRG or ALT keys.
